It is rare for people to realize that acquiring an RV is possible. Campers can give up some amenities to make others more attractive when looking for a campground. From a lightweight toy hauler to the bigger RV campers, there are many types to choose from. Listed below are your choices:
Collapsible Campers
There are many sizes of these collapsible campers (also known as folding). The sides of the canvas fold down to form a box. They are spacious and easy to store, transport, and use. Assembly and disassembly are labor-intensive. Because of their soft sidewalls, they can be uncomfortable when wet. This can be a safety hazard. Because they offer no protection against wild bears, camping in them is not allowed in some areas such as Yellowstone National Park.
Hybrid Trailers
A small towable trailer that is a combination of a regular trailer and a folding camper. Some trailers have side tarps that can be removed to make more room. Others have fixed-side trailers with a roof that can be lowered for towing. The best example of this type of trailer is the hi-lo trailer.
Pull Trailers
Pull trailer sizes range from very small to very large. While they can be expensive, many are affordable. Teardrop trailers weigh little, are small and light, and offer few amenities. They look like drops of water and can be easily towed by small cars and motorcycles. Regular trailers can be attached to any car’s rear with a hitch and can be hauled by many vehicles.
Fifth-wheel containers are attached to the bed of a pickup truck with a special hitch. Only a pickup truck can pull them. Bigger models offer spacious living areas and are convenient to use. They can also be parked at campgrounds while your tow vehicle is being used elsewhere. Heavy-duty tow vehicles are required for all of these models.
Truck Campers
RVs can be pushed onto the bed of a pickup truck. These small units can be converted into a living space but generally have all the essential amenities needed when traveling. These units are available at a relatively low price but require the use of a heavy-duty truck. Purchasing the two units together can be a bit expensive. These units can be stored well and left alone if owners want to keep the truck part separated. These units can easily tip over and therefore are not very safe to drive.
Van Conversions
Van conversions are vans with high roofs that have been converted to be able to travel. They are easy to transport and store and are of good build quality. However, they can be expensive to purchase and repair. But the good thing is they also offer little living space. When there is a lockdown, you can stay wherever you want, and literally bring your entire house with you.
